Martie Pretorius - Potchefstroom in North West, South Africa.
Assembled between February 2008 and November 2008
As promised, here is a photo of my mom (77 years old). She completed the
puzzle in 465 hours by assembling smaller blocks ranging between 1000 and
2000 pieces and did a total of 21 smaller sections. We assembled the whole
puzzle over the weekend and then we invited the people at the old age home
to come and look. What an experience that was! They could not believe
their eyes and my mom says even today they are still talking about the
puzzle. They all knew she was busy with the puzzle and they saw the
picture, but never did they realize the size of the final product. They
were absolutely amazed and I tell you, it was one of the greatest
pleasures in my life to see the excitement between them all. They went to
fetch their friends and even came back with them to see it again.
They then insisted that the newspaper must be contacted and it wasn't long
before they had a representative there who took photo's and got our story.
I tell you, this will only happen in the country, I didn't even raise
eyebrows when I completed the puzzle in the city!
Thank you for your website, I think you have achieved more than
just giving joy, you certainly have brought all our puzzlers together.
Here is a link to the newspaper article (first the Afrikaans version and then the English version)
All my best regards
